Sydney Masonic Centre (SMC) is one of Australia's premier conference and function venues. Inside this striking architectural icon SMC manages 16 event spaces, catering to small workshops and training sessions, or lavish conferences and VIP functions. Having earned a reputation for delivering innovative event solutions, SMC regularly plays host to politicians, international luminaries, charitable institutions and some of Australia's most high-profile organisations.

In this high-pressure environment, each day presents new challenges, and success requires immediate and responsive financial control. Disrupted or unintuitive processes can become highly problematic. When SMC looked to streamline their accounting and payroll processes, they needed an ERP solution capable of the same level of efficiency and responsiveness to their financial procedures.


With Sybiz Vision, SMC has significantly improved financial processing. Overseeing multiple entities and trusts, each with their own requirements, such as inventory and data importing, SMC is now able to seamlessly manage critical operations from the one solution. Previously this had to be managed across multiple software packages.

Working alongside their Event Management Sydney Masonic Centre and Sybiz Visionsolution, invoices and receipts are transferred easily into Sybiz Vision for dedicated financial management and greater reporting capability. Sybiz Vision also replaced a third-party Point of Sale system, eliminating costs for another program, and the time required to transfer and reconcile data and stock each month.

SMC also utilises Sybiz Visipay to manage payroll and HR operations for 20 full time employees, and up to 40 casual employees. Casual staff sign in and out using a standard time clock system and time sheets are imported into Sybiz Visipay for easy processing. SMC Group Financial Controller, James Aitkens, also noted how Sybiz Visipay's Employee Self Service and Leave Management capability has empowered staff, while reducing manual handling for accounting and payroll officers.

"Using forms unfortunately has a negative effect on moral as it requires filing. With Sybiz Visipay, the approval process is faster as the approving manager has employees' leave accrual information immediately available. Staff can look up the leave calendar to see who is on leave instead of annoying the accounting staff."
Instant visibility over leave requests, faster approvals, and automatic reminders have also improved payroll accuracy.
