South Australia Pinery Fire Appeal

South Australia Pinery Fire Appeal In November 2015, a fast moving bushfire, named the Pinery Fire, burnt approximately 85,000 hectares of land in the Balaklava and Roseworthy areas of South Australia. The fire ripped through 91 homes, destroyed farms and caused the loss of tens of thousands of livestock. Tragically, two people also lost their lives as a result.

Even as the communities face a long, hard road to recovery, the start of a new school year is a particularly difficult time for local children - many of whom have lost their homes and belongings. An appeal was set up to assist the children affected by the fires, collecting school supplies and snacks to ease the transition and give them the best chance for the new school year.

In response, staff from Sybiz came together and generously provided backpacks, stationery, lunch boxes, uniforms and even shoes to donate to students in need.

Our thoughts are with those affected by the fires, as many more still require assistance in the wake of this tragic event.
