Single Touch Payroll Phase 2

The second phase of STP reporting has arrived

Single Touch Payroll (STP) phase 1 has been in place since 2018 and phase 2 arrived in 2022. All Australian employers must regularly submit payroll information through STP2 unless an exemption or deferral has been granted.

Our last STP2 webinar was held on 14 October 2022 and gave our customers a refresher before the 1 November start date. You can watch all past STP2 webinars on the link below.

For existing Sybiz customers to meet the requirements of Single Touch Payroll Phase 2 you will need to be on an STP2 compatible version of Sybiz Visipay (version 22.20 is the minimum version required for STP2 unless you are salary sacrificing allowances after 1 November, in which case you will need to be on version 22.22). We recommend being on the latest version to keep up with compliance requirements.

Our existing Sybiz Visipay customers will need to upgrade to the latest version of Sybiz Visipay or at least version 22.20 (unless salary sacrificing allowances, in which case this will be version 22.22) of Sybiz Visipay prior to commencing STP2 reporting.

Some additional information may need to be collected from employees, and new allowances and other data may need to be set up, depending on how you currently report - see our STP2 FAQs for what this could include for you.

Now you’re ready to report Single Touch Payroll Phase 2 with Sybiz Visipay!

As Single Touch Payroll processes are refined by the ATO, businesses will need to ensure they continue to stay up to date with future releases of Sybiz Visipay.

How might you be impacted by STP2?

Transitioning to the next phase of Single Touch Payroll (STP2) in 2022 may impact more than just your regular payroll duties. For example:

  • How will STP2 affect your current reporting procedures?
  • How will STP2 change your employee onboarding process?
  • What penalties can occur from not meeting Single Touch Payroll phase 2 compliance?
  • Is your payroll data STP2 ready?
  • Are your employees aware of the impact, such as no more payment summaries?

Our Single Touch Payroll FAQs are a great place to start understanding how Australian businesses could be affected by the pending rollout of phase 2 of the STP program.
